Oh What do you do in the summer time?

We had such a great summer.  We had a family meeting and decided that every day during the summer we'd read for 30 minutes a day, do 7 math problems, do the library summer reading program, and we would learn about the circus, dinosaurs, and pirates and have a party for each of those things and we'd have an Un-Birthday Party.  We did it all except the pirate party - which could still happen.
At our circus party Laura was our Ring Master. She introduced all of the acts and kept things moving

Each of the kids came up with their own circus act and then they each invited a friend to the party.
Here is Brok and Westley with friends eating peanuts.

Charles came home for lunch and stayed for the party.  Here he is helping Audrey with her snacks.  Jake is to his right and Christian is on the end.  Have is hidden.

Christian was our tight rope walker.  He used a 2x4 and an umbrella.
Later everyone had the chance to try this death defying feat.

Here they are lining up for a relay race.  They ran to a chair and put on clown clothes and then ran back to tag their team mate.

Here I am helping some one get clowned up.
Here Westley and Jake are working as a team.

Here's a good look at Harve.  He was a lion that jumped through a "firey hoop" which was really a hoola hoop with crepe paper stapled onto it.  I think we have video of it all - I'll have to see if I can track that down.

Laura made these cool clown cup cakes for everybody.

We made this concession box and passed out peanuts, popcorn, corn dogs and pink lemonade.  We read in books about what foods they served in the early circuses.  The kids all got tickets at the beginning that they used to "buy" their snacks.     Everybody helped decorate boxes and bags for the snacks.

Here they are again waiting their turns for the relay race.

Audrey was both the bearded woman and the tatood lady.  We used washable markers and temporary tattoos.  It was a crack up.

Brok and Westley did a clown act producing giggles from the crowd.

Well, that was our first party for the summer.
Next up....Dawn of the Dinosaurs.
